Annual Meeting - 01/13/2001

New Officers

            Commodore                      Dave Jensen

            Vice-Commodore              Dick Shearer

            Secretary                   Don & Karen Baldwin

            Treasurer                 Mike LaPorte

Finances

- We’re so solvent ($6K in the bank) that we need ideas on how to spend our money.  Send suggestions to Mike LaPorte.

By-Laws Updates

¨       We can hold our annual meeting as late as April 1st each year, instead of      requiring it to be held no later than January 1.

¨       We’ll now have a Secretary AND a Treasurer, not just a Secretary-Treasurer.

¨       We’ll remain an unincorporated not-for-profit organization, which shields   both officers and members from liability under Colorado law (i.e., only the assets of the club itself are at risk in case of a lawsuit).

¨       The Executive Committee may propose an increase in dues, subject to a ratifying vote by the attending members at the annual meeting.

¨       We’ll continue to limit the Commodore and Vice-Commodore to two terms, but the Secretary and Treasurer may now hold office for unlimited terms.

For You to Consider

¨       Would we like to conduct some ‘official’ Wednesday evening Fun races?

¨       How about sometimes holding Sunday races in addition to or instead of some of our Saturday races, to accommodate those who can’t make it on Saturdays?

¨       Shall we re-join the Sailing Association of Intermountain Lakes (SAIL)?

¨       Should we hold the Manifest Destiny regatta in September instead of in August?

Other Details

¨       This year’s officers and committee are asked to please write up a ‘Handbook of Office’ that can be passed on year-to-year.  Begin with basics; over time we’ll add more detailed explanations of duties, resources, protocol and issues.

¨       We’ll have a Lake Granby Yacht Club website this year; it’s creation is already underway by the Baldwins.

¨       The Commodore’s burgee was found, and has been given to Dave Jensen for the year; a Rear Commodore’s burgee was given to Dave Gillespie.

¨       Mike LaPorte and Dave Gillespie were given portable toolkits in appreciation for their years of service.
