Gin Pole
The
gin pole is complete and functional.
On May 19th, Terry Pratt was the
first to use the new gin pole. Sid and Ruth Brugger, Terry, Jim Stanley and
myself went through the learning process of figuring out how to use it. After we
completed the job, we decided that we need instructions so we don't all have to
go through this learning process. I went home and wrote instructions which got a
practical application by Dave Gillespie, the next day. The instructions worked
great and consequently these instructions have been posted on the gin
pole.
I would like to give a
special thanks to the following for their contributions to the gin pole:
Jack Bakken- Coordinating with the
forest service, working with the
engineer,
and helping with assembly.
Donny
Helbech –
Assembly, and concrete pad ( will be completed when forest service completes
road base).
John Bright (former member) –
engineering.
Rick Lawson -
Drawings
Ross Caldwell – Instrumental in getting
the pole.
Mike LaPort – Motivator
Moon Shadow Construction
(Mike
Hanifen, new member) - Supplied and operated the backhoe,
for the hole.
Power Systems Inc.
(Wayne
Miller and his crew) – Transported
and erected the pole.
Mountain Parks Electric –
Donated the
pole.
Arapahoe National Recreation
Area (Bill Dunkleberger) – Issued Permit and arranged
the road base.
Grand County Road and Bridge
Dept. –
Supplied and installed the road base.
Thanks to all of you that responded to our request for volunteers to perform various club duties. We are still in need of a Race Committee for the Saturday Series Races 1&2, on June 23. It would be appreciated to have someone new, volunteer for this job. Ideally a member should only need to volunteer, for Race Committee, about every third year. Sid Brugger, our Race Chairman, or Donny Helbich, our Assistant Race Chairman, will gladly coach anyone that is new to this job. Volunteers, please contact Sid immediately. (sidbrug@home.com or 303-237-0256 or 970-726-4073). Thanks!
