The club is solvent, with $6067

dues ($35 per year) … see By-Laws Updates, below for further info on this.
By-Laws Updates
¨
A “social membership” option is
now available for those who do not have their boat on the water in a given
year. Annual dues for a social
membership will be $20.
¨
Members who are two years in
arrears on their membership dues will be dropped from the Club’s membership
rolls and mailing lists.
Reminders to Officers/Committee
¨
Each officer should find an assistant from
among the Club members to help out during the year, to help you out when you
really need it! Let Karen know who your
assistant will be.
¨
This year’s officers and committee are
reminded to add to the ‘Officers Duties’ that is passed on year-to-year, and which can be seen on the LGYC
website. Write out basics instructions
and helpful notes; over time we’ll add more detailed explanations of duties,
resources, protocol and issues.
¨
On behalf of Rear Commodore Dave Jensen,
who was out of town, Sid Brugger presented a Weatherman to Dick Scheurer as a
token of our gratitude and as a memento for his service as Commodore for the
past year.
¨
The Secretary and Treasurer will ensure
that the Club roster will be published to the entire membership – this should
be done no later than the end of April (but note that it will NOT be posted on
the website, to protect members’ privacy).
Website Notes
¨
Our website (http://lgyc.homestead.com) has been
updated with current information; race results from last year will also be
published there.
¨
There is now a For Sale section on the
website – if you have anything boat-related for sale, feel free to log onto the
website and send an email to the webmaster (Don) with your ad copy. Photos are allowed.
¨
The website now provides a link to the
current Colorado State Basin Outlook Report, showing current expectations for
lake levels.
Lake Conditions
¨
John Decker spoke with Pump Station
representatives on February 4, 2003.
They expect the lake to be at dead pool April 1, at 8233 feet elevation
by July 1, and 17 feet higher than last year.
¨
John Bakken provided the most cautionary
words, reporting that, at the time of the meeting, we were only 9 feet up from
the ‘deadpool’ level. There were also
rumors that in the worst situation, that a barge could be brought in to draw down
even that water.
¨
On the positive side, the Colorado River
Basin is in the best shape of all the basins.
Therefore, although there was an admitted possibility that we might not
be able to sail Granby this year, the projections indicate that we may have as
much water as we had last year.
¨
Dick Scheurer noted that last year,
launching was good at Sunset around the 1st week of June, although
some members reported problems getting wheels caught between the concrete
blocks of the ramp.
¨
Refer to the LGYC website for CURRENT
information on lake levels!
Other Topics of Note
¨
In recognition of his invaluable work
engineering the LGYC gin pole, the Club
voted a Honorary Lifetime Membership for John Bright, who joined us for dinner.
¨
Its rumored that the Forest Service has
expressed interest in paying for and erecting another gin pole at Sunset Bay;
Karen Baldwin will follow up with Forest Service reps for more information.
¨
Mike sent along brochures on Mountain Lake
Properties; anyone who would like one can contact him for a copy.
¨
All members are encouraged to talk with
Jesse Leach about racing plans for the year, and to volunteer to serve as race
committee some time during the year.
¨
Jack Bakken volunteered to host an activity
for the club sometime this summer … stay tuned!
¨
An auction was held, with all proceeds to
the Club treasury; the action raised $232.50 and more importantly a good time
was had by all.
